In a bold move to position Myanmar on the global esports map, the Myanmar Electronic Gaming Association (MEGA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with international partners to create Yangon’s first International Esports Hub jointly. This landmark initiative, unveiled on September 26, marks a new era for Myanmar’s digital entertainment industry and signals the country’s ambition to become a hub for esports, culture, and innovation.
The project will be rolled out in two phases, beginning with Yangon’s Largest Esports Experience Centre, slated to open in January 2026, followed by the International Esports Hub later that year. Together, these developments will not only showcase Myanmar’s vibrant esports culture but also attract domestic and international audiences, positioning Yangon as a dynamic destination for both competitive gaming and lifestyle experiences.

Phase 1: Yangon’s Largest Esports Experience Centre
Spanning 1,200 square meters, the Experience Centre will be Myanmar’s largest facility dedicated to esports. Designed as a multi-functional space, it will include:
-
Retail showcase zones for esports equipment, prosumer gear, and state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and visual (SLV) technology.
-
Flexible event areas to host tournaments, product launches, community showcases, and corporate events.
-
A dedicated LAN gaming zone and esports café for players and fans alike.
-
Professional training rooms and livestreaming facilities for competitive teams and creators.
Greenwillow Creative Ventures and Esports Entertainment Asia support the Experience Centre. It will serve as the venue for the Asia Esports Summit, Asia Esports Festival, and Asia Esports Festival Online in 2026. Adding further depth to the ecosystem, the SLV Symposium will debut alongside these events, spotlighting Southeast Asia’s latest audiovisual technologies, training programs, and industry showcases.
Phase 2: Yangon’s Iconic International Esports Hub
Phase Two takes the vision to an unprecedented scale. Spanning ten acres, the International Esports Hub is designed as Myanmar’s premier integrated esports and entertainment destination. Its key features include:
-
A 3,000–4,000 capacity Black Box Event Hall and an 8,000-capacity Outdoor Event Ground for tournaments, concerts, and festivals.
-
An expanded Esports Experience Centre, housing even more retail and training spaces.
-
An International Co-working Space and Esports Hotel, blending lifestyle with work-play culture.
-
A New Media Lab equipped with production and recording facilities for digital creators.
-
An International Food Street, retail outlets, and lifestyle spaces for a holistic visitor experience.
-
Professional training facilities for esports athletes and technical roles.
-
A Sports and Recreation Centre, ensuring balance between gaming and physical well-being.
This ambitious development is envisioned as a multi-functional hub for esports, entertainment, youth development, and education. It will also cultivate Myanmar’s next generation of esports talent by offering training in competitive gaming, streaming, casting, and event production — while fostering global collaboration through partnerships with international industry leaders.
Voices from the Partnership
The project’s stakeholders underscored its potential to transform both Yangon and the wider region.
Kyaw Moe Tun, Chairman of MEGA, emphasised: “This MoU marks a new chapter in our dedication to elevate esports to new heights. The International Esports Hub will be a catalyst for innovation, talent development, and international collaboration.”
Nicholas Tan, Director of Peak Creative Ventures, highlighted the strategic dimension: “The partnership embodies a shared vision to leverage advanced technology, foster sustainable growth, and set exemplary standards within the global esports sector.”
Theodore Chuang, Executive Director of Greenwillow Group, shared his vision for the project: “The future International Esports Hub will not only create a new space, but will also become a carrier of diverse community culture and enhance Yangon’s status as an esports hub.”
Johnny Ong, COO of UnUsUal and Advisor to the Esports, Martial Arts, and Mind Sports Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia, added: “The park will be a multi-functional hub that caters to diverse interests, providing a platform for a wide range of events throughout the year.”
A Future-Ready Hub for Esports and Beyond
With the rapid global rise of esports, Myanmar’s International Esports Hub has the potential to redefine the region’s gaming and entertainment landscape. By blending technology, culture, and lifestyle, the project aims to create not just a venue but a community — one that firmly places Yangon on the international esports map.
As Myanmar embarks on this exciting chapter, the International Esports Hub is poised to become more than just a gaming destination: it is set to be a cultural landmark, a training ground for talent, and a beacon for international collaboration in digital entertainment.
