The St. Regis Singapore, a 299-room luxury hotel situated on Singapore’s premier Orchard Road and steps from the UNESCO World Heritage Singapore Botanic Gardens, has completed a comprehensive renovation which includes the John Jacob Ballroom and the St. Regis Bar. This extensive, multi-phased transformation — the first since the hotel’s official opening in April 2008 — marks the dawn of a new chapter for the hotel, and features L-Acoustics professional audio systems designed and installed by Concept Systems Technologies.
The newly redesigned John Jacob Ballroom — now a stunning 710 square-metre pillarless space with seven-metre-high ceilings — subtly captures the beauty of 19th-century European orangeries, complete with ornamental motifs reminiscent of trailing vines. Two skylights bring natural sunlight by day, while by night, the ballroom’s mirror elements evoke a starlit garden. The space can accommodate up to 600 guests for a conference and can seamlessly divide into two identical spaces for concurrent events. The St. Regis Bar design reimagines the brand’s early 20th-century Manhattan origins through a contemporary lens, providing an intimate setting to savour the hotel’s Bloody Mary and craft cocktails.
Soka Delivers Flexible Excellence for Complex Ballroom Requirements
The John Jacob Ballroom’s multiple configurations presented unique acoustic challenges that demanded exceptional flexibility. The ballroom system needed to integrate flawlessly with the two new nine-metre LED video walls and intelligent lighting systems. Whether configured for a 420-seat banquet event, 560-guest reception, or a 600-seat theatre presentation, the space requires consistent, high-quality audio.

Concept Systems leveraged Soundvision 3D modelling software to design a distributed audio solution centered on eight L-Acoustics Soka speakers with four Syva Sub subwoofers, all in white finish. Soka’s discreet form factor and wide, homogeneous coverage pattern made it the optimal choice for this challenging environment, while the white finish seamlessly integrated with the ballroom’s interiors colour palette.
A third-party audio distribution system enables seamless preset selection, particularly when the ballroom is divided into two rooms, significantly simplifying operations for hotel staff.
X Series Creates Intimate Audio Environment for Premium Bar Experience
The St. Regis Bar received a carefully curated installation of four L-Acoustics X6i speakers with two SB10i subwoofers, creating the perfect audio environment for intimate conversation over evening cocktails. The system’s ultra-compact profile ensures the technology remains virtually invisible while delivering rich, full-fidelity sound that enhances rather than overwhelms the bar’s refined ambiance.
