Zhengzhou, the capital of east-central China’s Henan province, is a city where deep history and rapid modernisation intersect. Once a capital of the Shang Dynasty, it is home to cultural landmarks such as the Henan Museum and the Shaolin Monastery. Today, it is also the site of Zhongyuan Medical Science City, an ambitious 130-square-kilometre development positioned to become a global hub for medical research and innovation.
At the heart of this new district is the 40,000-square-metre International Exchange Center, a multifunctional venue combining conference and exhibition spaces with accommodation, banqueting and offices. Designed to host high-level academic, medical and international events, its large main conferencing hall demanded an audio solution capable of meeting exceptionally strict performance criteria, with absolute priority placed on speech intelligibility, uniform coverage, reliability and operational flexibility.
To meet these requirements, AV technology specialists Shanghai Haoyun Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. designed and installed a NEXO GEO S12 line array system. The configuration comprises left and right main arrays of six cabinets each, complemented by a central three-box cluster, with low-frequency reinforcement provided by two pairs of LS18 subwoofers positioned on stage.
To ensure consistent coverage throughout the hall, eight NEXO ID84 column speakers are evenly distributed along the left and right sides of the audience area, while ID24 super-compact loudspeakers handle front-fill duties. Presenter monitoring is delivered via four NEXO P12 point-source speakers, with the entire system driven by NEXO NXAMP Powered TD Controllers. The result is a sound system engineered to match the ambitions of its setting: clear, controlled and precise audio performance for a venue at the centre of Zhengzhou’s next phase of global engagement.
