The Pinglu Canal in Guangxi, China, officially opened to navigation on September 16, marking a major milestone for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Connecting the Xijiang River system with the Beibu Gulf, the canal provides a new maritime route for southwestern China and is expected to strengthen logistics connectivity between inland China and international markets, including ASEAN. By improving access to sea transport, the project is set to support regional trade and economic cooperation.
Against this backdrop, LEDMAN Optoelectronic has deployed its QS Icescreen ultra-high-definition LED display systems at two key control centres along the canal, in Nanning and Qinzhou. The installations provide a visualisation platform for monitoring, dispatching and operational management, supporting the digitalisation of this major infrastructure project.
Dual Control Centres for Coordinated Canal Operations
The Pinglu Canal connects the Xijiang River system with the Beibu Gulf, establishing a new maritime transport route for southwestern China. Its Nanning and Qinzhou control centres serve as operational hubs for centralised control, dispatching and intelligent management across the waterway.
LEDMAN supplied two QS Icescreen ultra-high-definition LED display systems to support critical operational tasks at both centres, including navigation monitoring, digital twin visualisation, vessel tracking, hydrological and water-level monitoring, and ship lock dispatching.
The displays also serve as visualisation terminals for the canal’s digital twin platform, presenting a three-dimensional model of the waterway that mirrors its physical layout. This enables operators to remotely monitor the operating status of ship locks across the canal’s three major hubs, while bringing large volumes of operational data together on a unified display platform.
By consolidating real-time operational information in a single visual environment, the systems help dispatch teams assess overall conditions, coordinate navigation and respond more effectively to emergencies. This supports the reliable operation of a transport corridor designed to improve connectivity between inland China, the Beibu Gulf and overseas markets.
QS Icescreen Delivers High-Definition Visualisation for 24/7 Operations
The project features LEDMAN’s QS Icescreen series, which combines ultra-high-definition image quality with low-power operation and reliability features designed for demanding control-room environments.
The displays deliver clear, detailed imagery and excellent screen flatness, supporting the presentation of complex operational data and visual information. Redundant power supplies and receiving cards provide automatic switchover in the event of a single-path failure, helping maintain display continuity during critical dispatching activities.
Low-glare imaging supports comfortable viewing during extended monitoring sessions, while AI-based pixel technology helps optimise power consumption. These features make QS Icescreen well suited to control centres that require stable, continuous operation around the clock.
During the canal’s opening and associated operational support activities, the display systems completed their assigned support tasks, with performance meeting the control centres’ operational requirements.

Smart Visualisation for Regional Infrastructure Development
As major infrastructure projects increasingly adopt digital twin platforms and centralised operational systems, reliable visualisation is becoming an important part of daily monitoring, decision-making and emergency response.
The Pinglu Canal represents a significant step in improving transport connectivity for southwestern China, with the potential to strengthen logistics links between inland regions and ASEAN markets. Its long-term contribution to regional trade will depend on a range of factors, including transport demand, logistics integration and the development of supporting infrastructure.
For LEDMAN, the project demonstrates how ultra-high-definition LED display systems can support the digital operation of complex transport infrastructure. By combining high-definition visualisation, energy-efficient operation and system redundancy, QS Icescreen provides a reliable display platform for canal monitoring and dispatching.
LEDMAN continues to develop its in-house COB display technologies for demanding applications, including command and control centres, smart transportation and other critical infrastructure environments. Through these solutions, the company supports the development of smarter infrastructure and more connected transport networks.
