On 22nd April, over 100 industry professionals gathered at Hotel Armada, Kuala Lumpur, for the inaugural SI Asia Knowledge and Networking Event in Malaysia—marking a vibrant coming together of system integrators, consultants, distributors, partners, and end-users.
Centred around the theme of AV over IP (AVoIP), the event spotlighted the technologies and trends reshaping the AV landscape. Leading brands, including GUDE Systems with distributor Mercoms Systems, Lightware, Netgear with distributor Kaira Global and Q-SYS, demonstrated how AVoIP is driving convergence, scalability, and smarter system design. Adding a broader industry perspective, the organiser of the International Signage and LED Exhibition (ISLE) also took the stage to highlight opportunities at its flagship event in Shenzhen, China.
Beyond partner showcases, the programme stood out for its dedicated AVoIP Insight Presentations, which brought real-world context to the conversation. Jason Tay, Senior Territory Account Manager at Netgear, explored “The AV over IP Landscape — Convergence, Standards and the Road Ahead,” offering a forward-looking view of the ecosystem. Complementing this, Simon Long, Founder of SQRD, delivered a practical deep dive into “AVoIP Deployment in the Real World: Design, Integration, and Outcomes,” grounding the discussion in on-the-ground realities.
The attendees’ responses reflected both the topic’s relevance and the platform’s value. Many highlighted the dual benefits of knowledge sharing and meaningful networking—an increasingly vital combination in today’s fast-evolving AV environment.

“We learned something new, especially in understanding AV over IP technology and smart power solutions,” shared Tein Seong from Breakers AV Solutions and Edwin Foong of Cubexis. “Beyond the knowledge, the opportunity to network with peers made it truly valuable.”

Echoing this sentiment, Thea Wei Chean of Midwich Asia noted the strong networking potential and suggested broader participation by system integrators in future editions.

Spencer Wee of Vision One Multimedia described the event as well organised and expressed hope for greater engagement with end users going forward.

For Beatrice Tiong of Doremi Sound and Light, the event’s format stood out. “It’s rare to see so many brands and system integrators in one place. The concise presentations kept things engaging while offering a good overview of solutions,” she said.

Attendees also pointed to the event’s role in sparking new ideas and opportunities. Grace Anne Moses, a member of AES Malaysia Chapter, highlighted the value of learning about AVoIP advancements while connecting with the wider industry.

JD Wong, Chairman of the AES Malaysia Chapter, captured the broader sentiment: “There is real excitement around AVoIP—not just in Malaysia, but across the region. I look forward to more events like this.”

Wong Wing Thim of Gospel Hall found the experience particularly eye-opening, noting how solutions such as those from GUDE could be applied in his own environment.

Azizi Bin Ala of Acousticon emphasised the importance of such gatherings in fostering collaboration, sharing ideas, and exploring future partnerships.
As the AV industry continues its shift towards IP-based workflows, the SI Asia Knowledge and Networking Event in Kuala Lumpur has set a strong precedent—creating a platform where insight meets interaction, and where technology conversations translate into real-world connections.
