The “Enhancing Educational Experiences” showcase was held on the 10th and 11th of October at the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Science building. The showcase resulted from a collaboration between Audio-Technica, Epson, Extron, Jabra, PAVE and Samsung. The venue was sponsored by NUS CIT (Centre For Instructional Technology).
“We wanted to showcase to the education institutes in Singapore how the various solutions can come together to provide a seamless experience for the students as well as lecturers,” said Alex Chua, ESD, Epson Sales Division – VI Business, Epson Singapore Pte Ltd.
“Due to the past Covid-19 restrictions, many might not have had the opportunity to see some of the latest solutions. This event allowed them to understand better how they bring value to the educational space,” added Alex.
PAVE System took responsibility for integrating the different solutions and helping create the total solution experience for visitors. “We also wanted to showcase our expertise as a systems integrator in this space,” said Wang Heng Thean, sales director, PAVE System Pte Ltd.
The ‘Active Learning’ area saw Extron’s Sharelink Pro 1100 as the backbone to connect the Epson EB-1485Fi Full HD 3LCD Projector, Samsung Flip and Audio-Technica’s ATND1061DAN beamforming ceiling microphone with an auto-tracking camera working seamlessly. An Extron IPCP Pro 360Q xi compact, high-performance control processor with a TouchLink Pro touchpanel, enabled ease of control of the various solutions.
The ShareLink Pro 1100 is a 4K Wired and Wireless Presentation System that enables anyone to present content from computers, tablets, or smartphones on a display for easy collaboration. It supports the simultaneous display of up to four devices, including an HDMI-connected device. Extron also showcased the ShareLink Pro LinkLicense for Active Learning. The LinkLicense lets users share content between multiple ShareLink Pro 1100 systems simultaneously. This is ideal in active learning classrooms with multiple small groups working together with a central instructor station that offers universal content sharing that more fully engages students. Content can be assigned to various displays using a TLP touchpanel or using the Extron Control app running on a tablet or smart device.
The Epson EB-1485Fi projector is a true PC-free digital whiteboard that allows users to draw, save, print, and even email without a computer.
“The objective of the Active Learning space was to show how the different key solutions can work together to create an enhanced experience in educational institutes. The setup showed how students could present easily and quickly. Also, how beamforming ceiling microphones working in tandem with an auto-tracking camera can easily identify and reinforce the audio of the person speaking,” said Wang.
Adwin Lin, account manager, Pro-Audio National Sales Dept of Audio-Technica (S.E.A.) Pte Ltd highlights the great success in demonstrating the ATND1061DAN beamforming ceiling array microphone with ATDM-1012 Digital SMART Mixer. 3 sets of ATND1061DAN were used to showcase the accuracy and speed for pin-pointing the exact locations of the speakers. The highly accurate distance and angle calculations from the microphones also allow this data to be transmitted easily to external control systems for camera tracking functions. “We are glad that the visitors can much better understand how Audio-Technica’s beamforming array microphones help to create comfortable learning and sharing experiences between students and lecturers.”
The Jabra Team, led by Benjamin Wee, showcased its Panacast 50, an intelligent video bar with astounding sound. “The Jabra Panacast 50 is a great solution where real estate is constrained. The solution can be used in huddle spaces or for student collaboration and is best suited for a maximum of 12 pax. The Panacast 180, which was also showcased, can capture audio up to 6 metres. With an all-in-one solution of camera, microphone, sub-woofer and tweeter, it plays an effective role for collaboration.”
Extron also brought their Virtual Control Appliance (VCA) and their latest Global Viewer Enterprise (GVE) management software to the event. The VCA provides the flexibility of hosting AV control resources in a central location, right alongside the resources the IT team already manages. One unit of the VCA can hold up to 50 Virtual Control Processors. The GVE is a server-based resource management software that efficiently manages all the AV devices and meeting rooms across the campus and enterprise.
Another space featured Samsung’s The Wall. The 0.8mm pixel pitch LED wall was partnered with an Extron Quantum Ultra Video Wall processor and controller.
Epson also showcased their EB-PU2010B WUXGA 3LCD Laser Projector with their ultra-short-throw lens. Delivering best-in-class colour brightness and white brightness, this 10,000-lumens 3-chip LCD projector features a virtually maintenance-free 20,000-hour laser light source and air filter.
Also highlighted was the Epson EB-800F Ultra-short Throw Full HD Laser Projector. The projector was housed in an Artome cabinet that, other than holding the projector, produces pure sound through an embedded sound system and enables local presentation and easy videoconferencing with an integrated camera and microphones. The selling point is having a portable, high-quality presentation solution!
The event drew over 100 participants.
