As hybrid meetings become a permanent fixture of the modern workplace, delivering a consistent experience for participants remains a challenge, particularly when it comes to coordinating audio and video systems. Concept Associates (KL) Sdn Bhd (CAKL) recently demonstrated how tighter integration between the two can simplify meeting room installations while reducing the programming required of systems integrators.
Held at CAKL’s headquarters in Bandar Sungai Long, Malaysia, the Modern Conference “Tech” Tarik: Voice Meets Vision showcase brought together 50 systems integrators, IT consultants and enterprise partners for a closer look at an integrated solution combining Shure’s audio technology with Q-SYS VisionSuite.
The half-day event focused on a practical challenge familiar to many AV professionals: ensuring cameras automatically follow the person speaking without requiring extensive manual configuration or predefined camera presets.
Turning Voice into Intelligent Camera Control
At the heart of the demonstration was the Shure MXA925 ceiling microphone, which uses advanced beamforming and Automatic Coverage™ technology to capture speech, supported by onboard IntelliMix DSP processing.
Rather than relying on manually programmed camera positions, the system sends spatial audio coordinates from the microphone to the Q-SYS VisionSuite VSA-100 AI Accelerator. VisionSuite then uses Talker Validation to visually confirm the active speaker, while Voice Activity Detection (VAD) helps prevent incidental room noise from triggering unnecessary camera movements.
Together, these capabilities enable automated camera tracking without the need for predefined presets, allowing meeting participants to speak naturally while the system manages the visual experience.
For systems integrators, the approach offers the potential to reduce programming time and simplify deployment. For end users, it creates a more intuitive meeting environment with fewer distractions.
Castrit Lim, Managing Director of Concept Associates, reflected on the event’s success, “Our goal at Concept Associates is to bridge the modern technology with the practical demands of regional system integrators. Bringing Shure and Q-SYS together, demonstrates how a native, scalable ecosystem can drastically cut down programming time for engineers while delivering a seamless experience for end-users.”
Bringing the Technology into Practice
Beyond the technical presentations, the showcase gave attendees an opportunity to see how the integrated solution performs in a working meeting room environment.
The programme opened with presentations by Gerald Lee of Shure SEA & Pacific and Chua Cong Wei of Q-SYS SEA. They were joined by Johnny Lee of Shure SEA & Pacific, alongside Eddie Seng, Ryan Othniel Seong and Ryan Goh of Q-SYS SEA.
Attendees then moved into hands-on breakout sessions led by CAKL application engineers Jeremy Thang and Kenny Yong. These demonstrations offered a closer look at the system’s operation and how the technologies could be incorporated into future meeting room projects.
The event concluded with networking, a lucky draw and high tea, continuing CAKL’s Modern Conference “Tech” Tarik series of industry engagements.
More broadly, the showcase highlighted a growing priority in meeting room design: making increasingly sophisticated AV systems easier to deploy, manage and use. As audio and video technologies become more closely integrated, reducing installation complexity is becoming just as important as improving the meeting experience itself.
