Powersoft is set to redefine the role of the passive loudspeaker at ISE 2026 with the launch of AnyMATE™ and its first real-world implementation, SpeakerMATE™. The new platform technologies mark a decisive move towards more intelligent, data-aware installed audio systems, enabling identification, monitoring and communication capabilities directly over existing speaker lines.
For decades, system intelligence in professional audio has largely stopped at the amplifier rack, with passive loudspeakers treated as silent endpoints. AnyMATE challenges this long-standing limitation by allowing data to travel alongside audio, turning the amplifier into a central communication hub without requiring Ethernet, wireless connectivity, external power supplies or additional cabling.
Built on a proprietary protocol and a patent-pending physical layer, AnyMATE operates directly via the amplifier’s output channels. This approach is particularly well suited to the realities of installed audio, where long cable runs, high-impedance architectures and legacy infrastructure remain the norm. By eliminating the need for separate control networks, AnyMATE enables system visibility and intelligence in environments where IP connectivity is impractical or cost-prohibitive.
Developed within Powersoft’s R&D department over more than a decade, AnyMATE has undergone extensive internal testing before its commercial debut. Crucially, the platform is designed not only for new builds but also for retrofit scenarios. Systems equipped with amplifiers that offer sufficient current-sensing and processing capabilities can be upgraded by adding compatible downstream hardware, opening the door to intelligent monitoring in sectors such as transport, retail, hospitality and large-scale venues.
SpeakerMATE is the first tangible expression of the AnyMATE platform. The compact module enables two-way communication between amplifiers and passive loudspeakers and can be deployed as an external add-on or integrated directly by loudspeaker manufacturers. For retrofit projects, SpeakerMATE connects in parallel with the speaker line using quick-splice connectors and draws no dedicated power, allowing upgrades to be carried out quickly with minimal disruption.
Once deployed, SpeakerMATE devices are automatically detected and configured via Powersoft’s Armonía+ software. Integrators can pre-load speaker brand and model data, enabling the system to recommend appropriate presets and reducing the risk of configuration errors during commissioning.
Beyond basic identification, SpeakerMATE introduces advanced monitoring capabilities to passive loudspeakers. Onboard sensors include temperature monitoring, an accelerometer and a microphone, with the option to connect an external sensor via a GPI port. These features enable temperature and tilt monitoring, on-demand SPL checks, and access to detailed metadata such as serial numbers, installation notes and lifecycle history.
When paired with cloud-based services such as MyPowersoft through the MyUniverso platform, SpeakerMATE enables remote system monitoring and diagnostics. For large, distributed audio systems in locations such as airports, shopping centres, stadiums, cinemas and theme parks, this translates into faster fault detection, proactive maintenance and fewer site visits.
Powersoft is positioning AnyMATE as a scalable platform rather than a standalone product, with future expansion and potential licensing to third-party manufacturers already in view. By embedding intelligence into existing infrastructure, AnyMATE and SpeakerMATE promise to transform passive loudspeakers from disconnected endpoints into active, data-rich components of the wider AV ecosystem.
