The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue (originally known as the ‘Asia Security Summit’) is the key forum for the discussion and analysis of regional security concerns drawing together ministers, military chiefs, high-ranking officials and security experts in Asia-Pacific since 2002. Over 600 delegates from 51 countries gathered at the 15th IISS Shangri-La Dialogue that was held at the Shangri-La hotel in Singapore, from June 3rd to 5th.

A specialist provider of congress equipment hire with over two decades of experience in the field, Congress Rental was selected by the organisers of the 15th IISS Shangri-la Dialogue to provide the full congress setup.

bosch ple medTo facilitate communication in the main plenary room, 411 DCN Concentus conference units were set up in classroom style, with software control and a simultaneous interpretation system with 6 interpreter booths for Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Thai and Mandarin.

An encoded smart card with additional barcode for venue entry identifies each delegate. A synoptic view of the room layout can be seen by the chairman on the top tables, in addition to the technicians and the cameramen with access to the software. The current speaker is projected from the broadcast HD cameras onto large LED screens. The entire system is controlled by 3 DCN CCUs, audio expanders for the six languages and an IP link that operates via the network switch for all technicians’ laptops.

Within the meeting framework, there are 3 breakout rooms. Each room is equipped with over 30 conference microphones that operate with two HD dome cameras set on pedestals installed inside the hollow square table. The cameras automatically tracked the speaking delegate with the microphone turned on, providing a video feed to the screens in the room, booths and media area.

DICENTIS wireless microphones were installed in one other meeting space to provide a quicker setup and faster turnaround for the room change. The breakout rooms also had 3 interpretation booths each, which links to the media room over the hotel’s IT infrastructure.
