The final talk was delivered by Ng Kok Sing, CTS-D, Regional Account Specialist, Education, Extron Electronics Asia. The presentation touched on some technology challenges in the education sector such as the need to work with different platforms and wireless design consideration amongst others and what the educational facilities will need to look into to ensure a seamless experience.
After the talk, guests visited each station for a closer look and understanding of the technologies on display.
Yeo Ren Kang, a Lecturer (Electronics) from the School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology, ITE Central, was one of the personnel responsible for organising the event and getting the AV partners to be involved. “This event came about with the idea of talking about video projection technology and evolved into a solutions showcase.”
“We hope that guests will appreciate how the education segment can be further enhanced with AV technologies. ITE hopes to be the ambassador for the digital experience in AV.”
Terry Chan (pictured), Senior Executive, Communications & Information Technology at the Singapore Institute of Technology who attended the event shared his thoughts.
“This is the first time I am attending an event with AV facilities colleagues from the other Institutes. In general, as an end-user, this event was useful. It is important for us to know about technical details as it helps us with our planning and budgeting. I also feel it is important to understand about AV over IP and how to make the solutions work seamlessly.”
“The biggest challenge in AV over IP is security. It was good that this was touched on today. However, I would like to know and understand more to ensure that informed decisions are made as Singapore strives towards becoming a Smart City.”
Another attendee, Kenneth (pictured) who is responsible for IT-Facilities-Project implementation at Temasek Polytechnic felt that the event was beneficial.
“Knowledge of products and what they can deliver always helps. The mock-up stations were useful as we could understand the scenario better. I was particularly interested in Extron’s wireless presentation which was a non-conventional way of projecting as it depended on IT. The other Extron solution relating to recording in the cloud and the ability to integrate with learning management system was certainly intriguing.”
