Overview: This day-long course starts with an interactive session covering the basics of IP networking, followed by hands-on training exploring an AV-over-IP system. It includes the installation, configuration and management aspects of the system including encoders and decoders as well as the management platform, which drives configuration and content management.

Objectives: Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the basics of IP network
  • Understand the capabilities of AV over IP communication
  • Understand the IP network infrastructure
  • Describe the OSI communication model requirements to deploy a system effectively
  • Understand the TCP/IP suite of protocols
  • Select the appropriate switch for deployment
  • Understand how to leverage IP networks for AV
  • Install and configure an AV-over-IP system solutions
  • Interact with a management platform

Prerequisite: Before taking this course, we recommend that attendees have the following knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of IP network devices
  • Familiarity with audio and video signals, connectivity and digital media

Course Content

Introduction to IP

  • Introduce the OSI communication model
  • Explain the various TCP/IP communication protocols
  • Unicast, broadcast and multicast – the importance for AV solutions
  • Pv4 overview – the anatomy of an IP address
  • IP relationships between layers

Understand Devices

  • Ethernet switch functionality and requirements
  • Digital media encoder
  • Digital media decoder
  • Management platform

Install the AV over IP System

  • Deploy the system using a management platform and configuration tool
  • Hardware device detection
  • Configuration of hardware
  • Using display zones, multiview, and video wall functionality

Design and Implement the System

  • Understand the system design prerequisites
  • Explain the system deployment options
  • IP switch and network considerations

  • All attendees of the course will earn 2.5 CTS credits towards InfoComm Certification.
  • A full system for demonstration will also be set-up for delegates to better understand the configuration.
