Aurora Multimedia Ignites Southeast Asia

The Aurora Multimedia Southeast Asia Ignite event was held on 12 March at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Singapore. This is the first-ever presentation by Aurora Multimedia in Singapore. Supported by Aurora Multimedia Southeast Asia and Aurora’s India office as well as their distributor Mindstec in Singapore, the event drew around 70 delegates. Other than Singapore based delegates there were also regional delegates from the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. A mix of SIs, consultants and end-users attended the event.

The theme Ignite certainly resonated with the presentation. The ever-energetic Paul Harris, Founder & CEO of Aurora Multimedia Corp gave a brief presentation about the company highlighting all the many firsts the company had achieved technologically. He emphasised the company’s slogan “Changing the Topology of AV” and explained that Aurora has always been in the business of breaking technology barriers and keeping things simple. The main presentation was about the Future of AV over IP, where Mr Harris gave many insightful explanations to the delegates relating to IP solutions.

Nataraju Upputuri of Aurora India followed up with presenting Aurora’s VLX and IPX Series solutions to the guests. Paul then rounded off the presentation by providing more details about Aurora’s ReAX non-proprietary IP control, based on AV/IT industry standards. Paul highlighted that ReAX allows interoperability of not just protocols & structure, but the actual code itself. Aurora’s QX Series control system and touch panel will support ReAX running in Linux secured OS.

After the presentation, guests had the opportunity to see some of the company’s solutions in action.

Sean Ying Kee Yeow of Elead Associates Pte Ltd

Sean Ying Kee Yeow of Elead Associates Pte Ltd who attended the event was curious to know how widely the solutions presented can be used and expects to follow up with more questions after going through the brochures. He felt that the equipment were generally in small format size and also offered fewer cable connections. “This is beneficial, especially in residential spaces. I have not used Aurora Multimedia solutions before but having heard and seen the solutions, there is certainly a possibility that we may one day use them,” said the consultant.

Ambran Abu Bakar, Group MD & Founder of SCAVAI Alliance

Ambran Abu Bakar, Group MD & Founder of SCAVAI Alliance is aware of Aurora. However, he did not know about the ReAX platform which he found interesting. “I also found one single slide very informative – the comparison between when it makes sense to use HDBaseT and IPBaseT.” He also felt that with a presence now in the region there is support now available which will offer excellent potential for the brand.

Kevin Oktavian, Marketing Manager, Integrated AV Solution, PT. Indovisual Presentatama

“This is the first time I am getting to know about the brand,” said Kevin Oktavian, Marketing Manager, Integrated AV Solution, PT. Indovisual Presentatama. “We have done AV over IP projects and know what to expect in terms of technical standards but what caught my attention here was the Fibre connectivity offered in Aurora’s solutions. The other item of interest was the ReAX chip that can be inserted into their box that then allows the integrator to use it as a control platform. This is the first time I see this sort of capabilities.”
