Arena of Stars is one of the most established venues in Malaysia located within Resorts World Genting (RWG). The resort stands majestically at 6,000 feet above sea level, on a tropical jungle that is 130 million years old. It is also one of Malaysia’s most popular tourist destinations with nearly 24 million visitors in 2017.

A dedicated venue for live performances and events, the 5,200-seat Arena of Stars amphitheater averages 8 international concerts and 8 corporate events each month. Needing to keep up with it’s demanding schedule, RWG management recently decided to upgrade the amphitheater’s sound system.

The management decided on L-Acoustics K2. They had previously heard it at the venue when they rented it for a concert by Eason Chan. They were impressed with the coverage and sound quality and got in touch with Sennheiser Asia who represent the brand in Singapore and Malaysia.

Sennheiser flew down to Genting to show them a simulation of the sound system coverage using the L-Acoustics Soundvision software. If there were any doubts, they were completely eradicated. The resort’s management was convinced that the recommended systems would raise the bar at Arena of Stars.

The sound system was integrated, tested and commissioned by Tegas Broadcast and Multimedia Sdn Bhd. The installation of the L-Acoustics K2 system into Arena of Stars took meticulous planning to create and integrate as it had to conform to the existing layout and infrastructure of the cherished stage. Hung above the stage are 4 K2 array clusters – 2 12-box arrays at the front, and 2 10-box arrays at the sides. Complementing the K2s are 4 stacks of L-Acoustics K1- SB subwoofers and 8 KARA enclosures for front fill. The entire system is driven by 4 LA4X and 20 LA12X amplified controllers.

The above configuration ensures that there are no feedback, reflection or dead spaces no matter where the listener is within the venue.

“The L-Acoustics K2 sound system has already debuted to rave reviews in our recent concerts, and the feedback has been amazing. Our audiences can now hear the difference. They can pick out every change in timbre, modulation in pitch or subtleties of cadence clearly as the musical wave sweeps and reverberates around our arena without a single note of dissonance,” said Kevin Tann, Vice President of Promotions and Entertainment for Resorts World Genting.

“This is the best arena sound system that money can buy, and we have made this significant investment because we believe that our audiences deserve only the best. Arena of Stars is the only concert hall in Malaysia that has this system offering our audience the best sounds.”

“We are thrilled that Resorts World Genting chose L-Acoustics for the Arena of Stars,” said Vince Tan, Vice President of Sales for Pro Audio Solutions at Sennheiser Asia. “We have worked very closely with L-Acoustics for many successful years, and their reputation for delivering powerful, precise and consistent audio quality to our customers and audiences across Asia is second-to-none.”

“The K2 sound system installed here at the Arena of Stars is the very same state-of-the-art system used in international music festivals such as Coachella and Tomorrowland, and the choice of top touring artists like Adele, P!nk and Jacky Cheung. With a stellar track record for technical riders and impeccable audio quality, the L-Acoustics K2 sound system will raise performances here to glorious new heights,” he concluded.
